IS THERE A FREE CONSULTATION?

Yes, we do offer a free 15 minute consultation; this is not mandatory as we would like to ensure you are comfortable. This consultation allows us to be able to ask questions regarding therapy, get to know your therapist and share a a little about your self. This also allows us both to see if we may be a good fit to be able to support you and work together.

WHAT IS THE FIRST STEP IN THIS JOURNEY?

The first step is reaching out and get in touch! Once we have connected and determined a good fit, we have paperwork to be completed prior to the first session.

WHAT CAN EXPECT FROM MY FIRST SESSION?

Psychotherapy is a personal experience, hence; it is vital for you to feel comfortable in discussing the challenges you may be facing and expressing yourself. Our first session will mostly allows us to get to know one another, build rapport and establish trust and mapping out a plan that is suitable for you.

DO I NEED A REFERRAL TO RECEIVE SERVICES?

No, you do not require a referral from a doctor to see a psychotherapist; so don't hesitate to contact us!

DOES PSYCHOTHERAPY WORK?

Yes, research has clinically proven that psychotherapy is an effective treatment for psychological conditions. Psychotherapy is an evidence-based approach that allows us to support you and foster change. Research has also demonstrated that the therapeutic relationship between the client and therapist is a key element in the effectiveness.

IS PSYCHOTHERAPY COVERED BY OHIP?

Unfortunately, Psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP or the Ontario Health Insurance Plan. Psychotherapists are independent regulated professionals (College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario) that require direct payment. Our fees however, may be covered by your personal healthcare plan. Please ensure you are aware of your coverage benefits and limitations.

IS WHAT I SHARE CONFIDENTIAL?

Client confidentiality is the most vital component of therapy. Being able to freely express yourself to your therapist and knowing it remains there allows you to feel safe and build trust. Hence, therapists are ethically and legally mandated to ensure confidentiality. However, there is an exception to this mandate, and this is if your therapist has determined that there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, we are then obligated to break confidentiality to ensure your safety or others. There could also potentially be a point in time that your therapist would like to consult with another one of your heath professionals in regard s to your treatment, for e.g. your family doctor or psychiatrist. In order to do so, we must obtain your consent and written permission for you to release and personal health information between practitioners.

HOW LONG ARE SESSIONS?

Sessions can range anywhere from 30 minutes to 120 minutes. Sessions are billed accordingly, and will be discussed with you prior to your attendance. You will receive recommendations of session lengths/approaches that may be suitable for you based on your current challenges. Sessions are typically 60 minutes in length.

WHAT ARE THE CANCELLATION/MISSED APPOINTMENT POLICIES?

In consideration of other clients, a 24 hours cancellation notice is required to avoid any charges for a missed appointment.

DO YOU OFFER REDUCED RATES?

We do provide reduced rates to clients who are in need on a case by case basis. You can discuss these options upon contacting us!

HOW DO I KNOW WHO IS THE RIGHT THERAPIST?

This is such an important question in your journey. Studies have proven that the fit between the therapist and client is a key indicator for a successful therapeutic journey and to foster change. We would encourage you to take your time to determine who your therapist will be and to get all the required information to allow yourself to make an informed decision. You can determine if we are the right therapist for you by asking questions that are important for you to feel comfortable and safe. Further, your want to ensure that your therapist has the appropriate credentials to support you and is regulated in good standing by the appropriate governing body.

WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?

We discuss our fees during the initial contact. Depending on the needs of the client and what the presenting challenges are, fees are reflective. The client is responsible for the fees at the time the service is delivered unless otherwise arranged. Our fees range anywhere from $135 to $200 per session- depending on the service; our fees are not set in stone as our ultimate goal is to support individuals and we offer reduced rates on a case-by-case basis.
